Mi nombre es Julio Cesar Villamizar y necesito de tu ayuda para poder volver a caminar! 

Desde muy temprana edad, fui afectado y operado por una hidrocefalia congénita (acumulación del líquido cefalorraquídeo en la cavidad craneal) que disminuyó mis capacidades motoras y de aprendizaje. 

No obstante mi condición con necesidades especiales, mi vida ha continuado feliz durante mis 45 años de vida, trayendo alegría y luz espiritual a todas aquellas personas que me conocen. 

Desde el año 2019, comencé a notar dificultades para caminar, al punto de que hoy me cuesta mucho incluso mantenerme en pie. Durante estos últimos 2 años, mi situación de movilidad continúa agravándose, con retrasos en la búsqueda de una solución causados por situaciones tal como la muerte de mi Padre, el conocido Actor Venezolano Carlos Villamizar en el año 2020 y la difícil situación de COVID-19 que atraviesa el Mundo. 

Luego de muchas consultas, visitas a especialistas y múltiples diagnósticos equivocados, que atribuían el problema a mi condición pre-existente, logre dar con el diagnóstico adecuado y una posible solución a mi condición de parálisis; en Febrero de este año los médicos consiguieron evidencia en Resonancias Magnéticas de una compresión del Cordón Medular desde el segmento C3-C4 hasta C5-C6 por estrechez del canal raquídeo cervical, que afecta mis miembros inferiores, superiores y posiblemente en el futuro otras funciones básicas, como el control de los esfínteres.

La solución consiste en realizar, a la brevedad posible y bajo anestesia general, una descompresión del cordón medular en las vértebras C3-C4 y C4-C5 (por su nombre técnico discoidectomia y corpectomia), colocando cesta y placas de Titanio entre las vértebras afectadas y un dispositivo Inter-somático tipo CAGE para liberar la compresión que afecta el Cordón Medular. Esta operación necesita ser realizada de inmediato para evitar mayores daños a la Médula y evitar que la parálisis en mis piernas empeore y también se apodere de mis brazos.

Dada mi condición preexistente de Hidrocefalia congénita, nunca he podido ser elegible para ser cubierto por una póliza de Seguro Médico. Esto, aunado a la difícil situación existente en Venezuela y al elevado costo de esta intervención, me han llevado a esta posición de tener que solicitar ayuda económica por esta vía.

Con tu contribución, cubriremos los gastos de Clínica, insumos y honorarios médicos para esta complicada intervención. Una vez realizada la operación, los Especialistas harán seguimiento con Fisioterapia para aumentar las probabilidades de que pueda volver a caminar y revertir el daño al Cordón Medular, restituyendo las funciones en brazos y piernas.

My name is Julio Cesar Villamizar and I need your help to be able to walk again! 

 

From an early age, I was affected by and had surgery to fix a congenital condition known as “hydrocephalia” (characterized by accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the cranial cavity) that diminished my motor and learning abilities. Despite my condition with special needs, my life has continued to be happy during my 45 years of life, bringing joy and spiritual light to all those who know me. 

 

Since 2019, I began to notice difficulties in walking, to the point that today I have a hard time even standing. During these last 2 years, my mobility situation continues to aggravate, with delays in finding a solution caused by situations such as the death of my Father, the well-known Venezuelan Actor Carlos Villamizar in 2020, and the difficult situation of COVID-19 pandemic that affects the World. 

 

After many consultations, visits to specialists and multiple wrong diagnostics, which mainly attributed the problem to my pre-existing condition, I managed to find the right diagnosis and a possible solution to my condition of paralysis; in February of this year, doctors found clear evidence in MRIs of a compression of the Medular Cord from segment C3-C4 to C5-C6 by narrowness of the cervical spinal canal, which affects my lower, upper limbs and possibly in the future other basic functions, such as the control of sphincters. 

 

The medical solution is to perform, as soon as possible and under general anesthesia, a decompression of the spinal cord in the vertebrae C3-C4 and C4-C5 (by its technical name discoidectomia and corpectomia), placing a basket and Titanium plates between the affected vertebrae and an Inter- somatic device type CAGE to release the compression that affects the Medular Cord. This operation needs to be performed immediately to avoid further damage to the Medula and prevent paralysis in my legs from getting worse and also taking over my arms. 

 

Given my pre-existing congenital hydrocephalus status, I have never been eligible to be covered by a Health Insurance policy. This, coupled with the plight in Venezuela and the high cost of this intervention, has led me to this position of having to apply for financial aid in this way. 

 

With your economical contribution, we will cover Clinic expenses, supplies and medical fees for this complicated intervention. After surgery, specialists will follow up with Physiotherapy to increase the chances that I may be able to walk again and reverse the damage to the Medullary Cord, restoring functions in my arms and legs.
