Over four million people have left Venezuela in the past few years, the largest migration ever known in Latin America. Estimates put around half are families settled in Colombia, many supporting themselves through work in the informal sector. The COVID-19 lockdown has meant an end to this source of income.

Más de cuatro millones de personas han abandonado Venezuela en los últimos años, la migración más grande que jamás se haya visto en América Latina. Alrededor de la mitad son familias venezolanas que se establecieron en Colombia y que ahora han perdido la posibilidad de generar ingresos debido a las medidas de contención asociadas a COVID-19.

FUNDACOLVEN is a small non-profit charity in Bogota —run entirely by volunteers— that provides Venezuelan immigrants with legal and health support, as well as help in finding jobs. The foundation has now been overwhelmed by COVID-19 and money is desperately needed to meet the urgent pleas for food of Venezuelan migrants.
FUNDACOLVEN es una fundación sin fines de lucro que opera en Bogotá que se apoya exclusivamente en el trabajo voluntario y que durante muchos años ha brindado apoyo a los venezolanos en el área legal y sanitaria, así como también facilitando oportunidades de empleo. La crisis del COVID-19 ha sobrepasado las capacidades de la fundación, que se ha visto abrumada por las desesperadas peticiones de alimentos y ayuda de los migrantes Venezolanos.
"I started by helping to select and sort clothes and then I was a cook for the volunteers. There was a lot of work, volunteers were offered lunch to help. There are so many difficult stories, I was very affected by a mother who came with a baby with cancer, the foundation does not give money but Mrs. Ana helped her. The greatest need now is for food. A lady arrived with nothing, she is a lawyer and was persecuted in Vzla, and now here they are threatening to evict her from her home, I feel very upset by the xenophobia that some endure.
