Help my friend escape abuse.

This fundraiser is on behalf of my friend Morgan, who, as a result of severe emotional and psychological abuse, had to leave home permanently and unexpectedly, forcing her to abandon her belongings. As a result she lost most of her clothing, shoes, and laptop. In addition she is now facing student loans coupled with legal fees, and does not have access to a phone plan. The proceeds from this fund will go to help her rebuild her life in these ways.

HER STORY.

" My parents were/are severely emotionally abusive. Throughout my childhood and now into my adult life, they isolated me at home, controlled my every move, manipulated and threatened me, and hurled constant verbal abuse at me.

This treatment has escalated over the past two years as I’ve attempted to gain more independence at college. Several bad fights occurred. When I came out as bisexual recently, my home life became absolutely unbearable.

At 11:00 pm on May 2nd, 2023, with the help of a close friend who is now my roommate, I snuck out of the house and left with just bare essentials. I’m getting a job soon.

Since I left, I’ve had to deal with horrible threats and abusive messages from my parents, to the point where police have been involved on both sides, and I am currently pressing harassment charges and looking into a possible protective order.

When I escaped I lost many of my clothes, shoes, most of my books, my laptop, toiletries, and other possessions. My room in my new apartment is bare except for a mattress on the floor. I’m starting from almost nothing. Asking for money is my least favorite thing to do, but any help during this very difficult time in my life would be appreciated beyond words."
