Azores 110km Ultra-marathon
Donation protected
On the 20th May I will be part of a team of 25 Veterans from all seven Household Division regiments who will be taking on this 110km ultra-marathon across the volcanic island of São Miguel in the Azores.
Our team includes veterans from their 20's to 70's, some who were shot or blown up on operations and others with PTSD and other mental health problems. Members of the team have done a combined 70 operational tours in war zones including Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Bosnia, Kosovo, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan. They all share a willingness to put them selves through an enormous amount of pain to help raise awareness and much needed funds for their fellow veterans in need.
I am raising money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and The Helen Straker charity.
SSAFA, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. Last year their teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,500 people in need, from Second World War veterans to young men and women who have served in more recent conflicts, and their families.
The Helen Straker charity, From the outset The Helen Straker Charity has followed Helens wishes and raises funds which in turn are shared between the two charities favoured by her, namely The Forever Friends Appeal and Dorothy House Hospice.
I will keep you updated with our progress on this page.
Thank you for your support!
