UNIForm

In the 80’s & 90’s I grew up watching my mother push herself to her physical & capable limits as a single parent of 3. Every year on the build up to school we got our new school uniform’s. As children of the system our school uniforms where paid with Mums savings and govt grants. We hope to aid low income families with greater financial support in the northwest to buy school uniforms.
UNIFORM - is aiming to help and assist parents and families from Derry/L.derry, Northern Ireland with the financial cost of school uniforms for the start of the school year.
Almost 400,000 people live in poverty in N.Ireland with 27% of them living in Derry & Strabane councils the largest percentage of any town or city.
In a 2020 research survey by the credit unions they displayed that 32% of parents go into debt at the beginning of the school year to pay for uniforms because of rising costs and 2% of those families even take to pay day loans.
The average cost of a complete uniform was surveyed at £200-£300+ yet parents within the jobseekers, low income jobs or govt lines of benefit only receive between £32 & £56 in government assisted funding per child, per uniform, per year.
A parent or guardian should never feel out of their depths for needing clothing deemed necessary by their chosen school in order to send their children to school without prejudice or judgment.
With a donation today we can make sure these funds go into the hands of the families that needs it. Families who need financial support and Parents who struggle to make ends meet.
Every year. Every August for Every child.
We/UNIForm aim to raise £10,000 and provide 100 cheques to 100 children for £100 all for school uniforms by September ‘22. We will use local community and school recommendations on the distribution of funds.
We understand that not everyone can support every foundation or charitable cause. But if you can support UNIFORM we’d like to thank you for every penny, euro, dirham or cent you can spare.
Thank you.
