Team Sheba

7/5/14- Sheba broke our hearts the second we saw her. She was surrendered by her "guardians" in mid-June to a local intake facility when they decided to move and not take her with. The stress and sadness took an immediate toll on her and she became very ill. When we saw her in her kennel today, she was struggling to stand, hadn't eaten in three days, and couldn't stop shaking or vomiting. We had to carry her out of the intake facility and take her straight to the vet's office where she remains hospitalized. We are running labs, doing chest x-rays, keeping her on a IV catheter, starting treatment on her bi-lateral ear infections, and will do a transfusion if she is not able to make progress over the next few days of intense treatment. Through all of this, her tail wags gently when you talk to her, she melts into our arms when we hold her, and she tries desperately to always have her chin resting in the palm of our hand. We barely know Sheba, but we feel such a strong connection to her. She deserved so much better than what her people gave her, and we're determined to get her healthy and place her with a family who will love her forever. We are unbelievably grateful for your support in helping us get Sheba healthy and happy. We couldn't do this without you.
