OLGA'S FAMILY

Our names are Ric and Deanna Tubbs. Many of you know we agreed to sponsor a family from Ukraine a little over a year ago. Mom is Olga Maslovska, 16 y/o son, Ivan, and 5 y/o twin girls, Vasilisa and Varvara. It has been a year of learning about Ukraine and all they have been through, while they learned how to adjust to life in our country. Olga has been going to school to learn English while Ivan attended WRHS and the twins went to preschool at Farley Elementary. It has been a year of fun, laughter, stress and frustration on both sides, but most of all we have learned to love Olga and her family like our own. She is ready to move on now with her new life here. She has a job at Stormont-Vail and is signing a lease on a duplex effective August 1. This brings new challenges as she will need to furnish her place and start from scratch with household supplies, furniture and other things needed to start her new life. Top City Promise Supports Ukraine is a website on Facebook developed here by Yana Ross, and they will post a list of things she needs to get started if you would like to help out. Most importantly, though, she needs a reliable car to get to and from work. It will be a challenge to get three kids where they need to be while working from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day. We would appreciate any help you can give Olga to get started on her new life here in Topeka. She is a sweet, loving mom who has traveled a long way to try to start a new life for her children where they will be safe.
