He ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother. Surviving Pacific Palisades

My name is Catherine Cruse from Melbourne. My brother Glen Whelan has lived and worked in California for the past 10 years. He lived in Pacific Palisades which has been wiped off the map in the devastating wild fires.

He and his partner have been left with nothing but the clothes on their back, and insurance will only cover half of what they have lost… that is if they pay out at all. America is not like Australia where our government will step in and give emergency funding. They are on their own. They are currently staying in a hotel which is not sustainable and trying to find rental accommodation in a city where thousands are in the same predicament.

My heart is breaking for him, we can’t replace all the memories he has lost but we can give him a hand up and use any funds raised to pay for emergency accommodation and rebuilding their lives.
