Go Fund Me
Family, Friends, and Facebook,
I’m setting up this account to help my niece Ronni Ramirez and her fiancé Adrian Herrera.
They have hit a very difficult time in their life and we’re asking for support from anyone that’s willing.
Ronni was pregnant with twins, but very early in the pregnancy, Baby A’s sac began leaking amniotic fluid. This caused Ronni to go into the hospital on complete bed rest. She was there for 2 months when she developed an infection, which caused her body to go into labor. The girls were born on November 10th at 28 weeks gestation.
Their stories so far...
Celestina (Baby A) was born weighing 2lbs 7oz. Without amniotic fluid for 2 months she is behind in her development. Her lungs had hardly developed and she has been switched numerous times from breathing machine to breathing machine. With all the switching, her lungs collapsed causing more pressure on her machines and required her to be placed on the oscillator for a little over a week. Within the 2 weeks of birth, her lungs have expanded and she is now on a ventilator. The doctors are working to get her to C-Pap. (A machine that lets her breath mostly on her own.) She has had 2 blood transfusions and has had multiple tubes in her arms and chest. There are a few reasons for these tubes, like feeding, pumping air out of her stomach, vacuuming air out from around her lungs, receiving medications, just to name a few. She is now being fed breast milk through her tubes and they will need to continue monitoring her digestive system to be sure it is working as it should. She lost a lot of weight but she is now back up to her birth weight of 2.7 lbs.
Camila (Baby B) was born weighing 2lbs 12oz and she was doing well for her first 12 days, until Friday the day after Thanksgiving. The nurses found blood in her stool. They did an X-ray and saw that her intestines weren’t working and were very swollen causing her bowels to come back up into her stomach. She was at risk of her stomach becoming perforated and all her bowels leaking into her body, so she was care flighted to Plano for an emergency surgery and while in flight, had a blood transfusion. With her being so small, they were not able to successfully insert an IV anywhere, so the doctor had to perform a minor surgery placing a main IV line (Broviac) in her jugular vein. This was crucial because she needed to receive the fluids and antibiotics to become stable and fight the infections right away. They have placed a tube in her stomach to pump the waste out every 15 seconds. Her stool is clean from blood right now and by the Lords grace she has not needed any big surgeries so far. Since she’s been in Plano, both of her lungs have collapsed and she is on an oscillator machine. Which means she is on total breathing machine support.
The girls are still in critical condition and have a long fight ahead of them. Please pray for these sweet baby girls.
Since Ronni went into the hospital on September 24th, Adrian has missed some work, but since the girls have been born, he has not been able to go to work at all. He has needed to be there for the girls and Ronni and himself not knowing what will happen. Having the girls in different locations makes things a lot harder when it comes to procedures, consents, and being there when the girls start to regress, as they need to change their machines or settings.
So I’m setting up this Go Fund Me page for them. It’s to help with their immediate need for monetary funds like gas, food, lodging and their normal living expenses. Not having an income for a while has put them in a bind with their bills and mortgage. My wish would be to at least help them get through the rest of this year as I’m sure the girls will not be going home anytime soon.
This has been stressful emotionally, mentally and physically for them. Having to go from the hospital in Plano where Camila is, to the hospital in Arlington to where Celestina is. Not to mention that they also have 2 boys at home. Matthew who is 10 years old and Adrian who is 19 months old. Their entire family is split. Matthew is with one Grandma, and Adrian is with their other Grandma. I ask that you please keep my niece’s family in your prayers. They definitely need them. Thank you!
