Baby Aspen’s CPAM surgery expenses

Meet the Bauer Family - Nathan, Ashlie, Jackson, Charlie, Callan, Atlas and baby girl Aspen. Aspen is their 5th pregnancy and their first baby girl.

Unfortunately at their 20 week routine anatomy scan she was diagnosed with CPAM. CPAM stands for Congenital Pulmonary Airway Malformation, it is a rare congenital birth defect that includes a cystic mass of abnormal lung tissue. Unfortunately baby Aspen has many large, and one extra large, fluid filled cyst growing on her right lung. They have been monitoring the cyst, had an ekg and tried steroid injections to try and stop the growth because the cysts are pushing her heart over. They’ve now reached a critical point where she’s also developed Hydrops. Hydrops is extremely dangerous to baby Aspen and potentially to Ashlie as well. They have been sent to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to be treated by the leaders in handling this diagnosis. 

As of now they will have multiple consultations, diagnostics and coming up with a plan to figure out the best outcome for baby Aspen and Ashley. This may require surgery in utero or early delivery for immediate surgical intervention. 

All of these scenarios, including Ashelie’s current prenatal care will result in thousands of dollars in medical care. Between lodging, meals, traveling,  and time off work expenses this will place a significant financial burden on their young family. 

Nate and Ashlie are surrounded by many people that love and support them. I know between family, friends and Nates family in blue we can help relieve some of this financial burden  so they can focus on doing everything they can to get through this hard time for their baby girl Aspen.  

I am creating this page in hopes to bring together the community that surrounds this loving family and remind them that they are loved and fully supported during this hard time. All of the donations will go to help minimize the staggering medical bills that are predicted to arrive.
