Baby Avnoor & Mom long term rehab and living expenses fund

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out with a heartfelt plea for help for a family facing unimaginable medical and social challenges. In April 2024, Mandeep, a 37-year-old healthy woman expecting her first child, developed an infection resulting in the premature birth of her daughter at just 23 weeks.

Since then, their lives have been a relentless battle and both mother and baby are facing severe, long term medical complications.

Mandeep developed a severe form of tuberculosis in her brain, leaving her bedridden for the last three months. She has endured several operations, including the insertion of a drain to remove excess fluid from her brain. She has spent all this time in hospital, including one month in the ICU. Her TB medications are now affecting her hearing and eyesight, further complicating her already difficult situation.

Baby Avnoor was in the ICU for the first two months of her life and remains in a high dependency unit with severe complications from infection and premature birth. She too has had to undergo various procedures and surgery to help with her eyesight and breathing. She may well require more in the future.

Mandeep's husband, who works at Edinburgh Airport, is struggling to cover basic living expenses, especially since Mandeep is now unable to work due to her condition. The family is struggling to pay rent and cover basic living expenses, all while facing unimaginable medical challenges. Both mother and baby have a long, uncertain road ahead. The doctors are doing everything they can to keep them strong, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
