Baby Blake's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Blake Thomas is our 8 month old baby who has been diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a malignant tumor of the liver and is currently receiving chemotherapy. Since his tumor involves multiple areas of the liver, he is awaiting a liver transplant. As Blake’s parents, we are navigating a very complicated treatment schedule and care at 3 different medical institutions (Kaiser, Children’s Medical and Georgetown University). Since Blake’s immune system is compromised and has to have limited contact with multiple people, he requires our care 24 hours a day.
This has resulted in a financial struggle because we are unable to work a full 40hrs consistently. We both have exhausted our leave and FMLA so anytime taken off is leave without pay. Due to Blake’s cancer diagnosis, he is required to be seen on a weekly basis by multiple specialist. Although Blake’s insurance covers most of his medical expenses, it doesn’t cover 100%. Due to our reduced income, it has been extremely challenging to cover our monthly household expenses, not to mention his delinquent medical bills, weekly co-pays and everyday essential baby needs (Diapers, Wipes and Formula). We would be more than grateful for any monetary donations.
Thanks for taking the time to read Blake’s story…

Here’s our initial plea to find Blake a new liver so that we can cure his cancer once and for all. Via Facebook Post on 11/1/2016.
As some of you know, our son Blake was born at just 23 weeks gestation. He stayed in the NICU for 130 days. During that time, he fought for his life day in and day out with multiple complications from his undeveloped organs. He is now almost 5 months adjusted and is developing mentally and physically at the rate of a full term baby.
Unfortunately, he developed Hepatoblastoma, a form of childhood LIVER CANCER. While he continues to fight for his life, he is running out of time. Blake desperately needs a liver transplant in which could cure his cancer. My wife and I are normally private about our lives but right now we are desperate! Besides having a transplant, the doctors recommend that Blake undergoes Chemo treatments. They recommend 6 total, every 3 weeks. He has currently had 5 treatments and will soon receive his 6th at the end of this month.
Although Chemo can shrink tumors and possibly get rid of them, it also takes its toll on the body. After his 6th treatment, he will no longer receive chemo because his body would not tolerate more treatments. Therefore the tumor could continue to grow and possibly spread. I am writing this post in tears and plead for help saving our baby. IF THERES ANYONE WILLING To fill out a questionnaire and get tested to see if they can possibly be a donor for him, please give us a call or email me. Words can't express how grateful my wife and I will be if we could possibly find a donor in the near future.
