Baby Bobby & Family

Hi everyone, 116 days ago my nephew Bobby was born at exactly 25 weeks. He was born 15 weeks premature like his older brother Sonny (who is now 3) and for the last 116 days my sister Jess and her husband Nath have had to travel up to Monash hospital every single day to be with their baby. For anyone that has had to leave their baby at hospital and not be able to bring them home knows how incredibly heartbreaking and stressful this is.
So here we are 116 days later with the two of them barely asking for any help other than family and close friends sometimes helping with babysitting sonny so they can be in hospital with Bobby at the same time.
They have had a meeting with the hospital today and have been told to expect potentially an October or even a November home time with Bobby. He has had an incredibly tough road, more than 50 blood transfusions, meningitis, his tiny body going into septic shock, has stopped breathing, has had life saving surgery to remove half of his small bowl from a blockage, has been ventilated and is still requiring breathing support due to chronic lung disease. We have also now found out this week both of his arms are broken due to metabolic bone disease from constant drips and long lines being put into his body. Honestly an adult would be a miracle to have survived what he has already gone through. He is as strong as they come and still has a road to go.
Nath is an incredible dad who has luckily been able to use his sick leave and now his long service leave which will see him able to be off work until September. My sister owns her own business which she has effectively had to shut down for the past 8 months, and it’s now a case of them not asking for help but me wanting to be able to ease some daily stress for them.
I would love if we could all pitch in and be able to give my brother in law some extra time off work so he can continue to care for sonny while my sister is in hospital and ease the financial burden of having to travel and pay for parking which is costing them in excess of $300 per week plus then living expenses…
If you can spare anything I would be eternally grateful. You would be helping a little family have a slightly easier time in what could only be described as the most trying time of their life.
Thank you. Love, Emma.
