Baby Boy Foster

Donation protected
I saw a post from a close girlfriend about a dog in need.
My husband and I had just had our last foster successfully adopted and were looking for our next to keep our two girlies company.
I saw a Facebook post and responded.
Quickly learned that he was already placed at Metro Animal Control in Nashville and knew I wanted to go get him.
We discovered that he had been present in a number of neighborhoods very scared and unable to be captured for a period of time.
Someone was able to capture and collect him and keep him for a short while before discovering that they had to put him in someone else's hands for best care and potential. (no idea about all of the ins and outs but we believe it was a multiple dog siutation and limitations that prevented them from continuing to foster him)
We have since learned that he was running loose in the Lexington Point, Boone Trace and Avondale neighborhoods in the Bellevue area of Nashville. He was truly terrified of people and thus difficult to catch, but some good neighbors got together and managed to contain him and keep him for a while.
I was hopeful that we would do what we've always done and take in a foster, ensure their full vetting and healthy status and any training required and then place them in their forever home with their HUMANS.

A few days into fostering/owning him he developed a cough. In the midst of a Holiday weekend (July 4th) we managed to get him to the vet on the 5th.

This trip to our regular vet revealed that this pup had bb pellets and shotgun shell residue under his skin. (It turns out that he was rightfully afraid of humans! Bless him.) He was struggling to breathe and was in dire need of emergent ICU care.

We presented at Nashville Vet Specialists that day and he was checked in with a 50/50 chance of survival.
A few days after his ICU intake with continued updates and his ongoing life in an oxygen tank we learned that he had been diagnosed with canine respiratory coronavirus, mycoplasma cynos, canine pneumovirus. and pneumonia.

It has now taken 5 full days of being contained in an oxygen kennel (now with antibiotics added due to mycoplasma) to get him to the point that he could come home.

We are still looking at 2 weeks of full isolation from any other dog once he is checked out.

Unfortunately the cost is a whopping $7800.

If anyone who saw him running or knew about him would consider donating toward his care it would be deeply appreciated by me and my hubs and my amazing Mom who have put forward the initial deposit and paid the balance for his ICU care.
If you are able - please do donate ($20 helps!!!! don't feel pressured by the large amount!) toward him directly this evening up until we pick him up tomorrow July 10th at 7 am. If you see this after his checkout please know that our ultimate goal is to reimburse expenses and hopefully have enough to be able to move forward on additional care while he is in foster care.
Direct number to NVS is: [phone redacted].
Other donations can be done directly through this site and will be funneled to NVS directly for any balance.

Foster is about 1 year old and deserves so much better than his rough start in life. And needs support!

Any amount will help. Thanks in advance for being a good neighbor, friend, and animal advocate.

We appreciate you.
Also - We are always happy to provide any receipts for dog care to ensure that your donations are given in good faith and spent responsibly ONLY toward the care of this pup.

Thank you so much,
Sharon & Todd Green
