Baby Burgess NICU Medical Expenses
Donation protected
We are normally very private people, especially when it comes to medical troubles.
When we found out we were pregnant with our rainbow baby, we were so incredibly overjoyed. We have prayed for years and were finally blessed with our beautiful daughter.
On November 30th, after a long labor that ultimately ended in a C Section, our daughter Indigo (Indy) Burgess was born. She has truly brought more joy and love to our life than we ever knew we could feel.
Within an hour of her birth, little Indy was taken to the NICU for not passing her breathing test. The doctors discovered she couldn't maintain her oxygen levels and had a potential undetermined heart issue. She was immediately transferred to CPMC San Francisco NICU, with Erik following the ambulance the whole way so that she could get an echocardiogram and begin to see what kind of special care she will need.
Kimberly had to remain a patient at Sutter Santa Rosa hospital to recover from the C Section, separated from baby Indy.
Erik has been with Indy in the NICU for every moment of the day, advocating for her care and staying updated with all of the tests and treatment plans the doctors have for her.
On December 4, Kimberly was finally able to travel to CPMC to be reunited with both Indy and Erik. She was able to hold her baby for the first time since Indy was born. This emotional trip is the first of many travel costs for our family.
Currently, Indy is on an oxygen and heart treatment plan. She is under constant care from the medical teams. We are waiting on doctors to tell us if Indy will need heart surgery at this time, or in the near future. We do know that she will be in the NICU for a minimum of the next 2 weeks while a new care plan is determined, followed by many trips to specialists upon her release.
These extensive medical bills are unexpected, and have taken a financial toll on our family. No act of kindness is too small. If you have it in your heart to give to our daughter in any way, please know we would be forever grateful.
Please keep our baby Indigo in your prayers ❤️
