Baby Calissa Needs Your Help
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Becky and I am raising money for a precious little girl named Calissa (or Cali to her family). She, with the help of her Mama, wrote a very lovely message below explaining her medical conditions and whats to come. What they don't explain is the amount of medical bills that will be accumulated, along with travel expenses, day care for Cali's big brother, the loss of one parent's income and all the other myriad expenses that will come from this.
Cali leaves today, Sept 19th, at 1 pm via MedFlight for Denver where she will start her very long road toward a normal and healthy life.
So I'm asking, on Cali's behalf, to please help! Even $1 will help!! All monies raised will go directly to Cali's parents, Curtis and Rebekah Finberg.
From Cali:
Hello everyone!
My name is Calissa Monroe. You can call me Cali or Calisaurus. I was born on September 8th, 2022 at 6:20am.
I have something called hypoplastic left heart syndrome or HLHS. Which means my lower left ventricle didn’t form. I also have something called noonans.
Due to all my extra fabulous sparkly traits I will need to have multiple heart surgeries. This is where it gets complicated. I was originally going to be taken to the UW Children’s hospital here in Madison to start the series of surgeries but when I was born and the doctors got to take a look at my heart outside of mommy they found that I was a little more complex than they thought and wouldn’t be able to take on my case.
So, my awesome cardiologist, Dr. Rock, got down to business with planning my battle. She reached out to multiple hospitals across the United States. She got in touch with a team in Denver that has been doing research and testing with a medication that would help with my recovery. She talked with a team down in Chicago about what she was wanting/needing with my cares. Unfortunately, Chicago never got back to her with a definitive yes or no. So she moved on to contacting Denver, Philadelphia and Milwaukee about getting me the surgery and cares that I need.
And who got back to us right away and said yes to me.....DENVER!! Which means mama and I will be making our way to Denver, CO to start my big adventure. We are currently waiting for a room to open up and when that happens I'll be taken by plane to Denver. When I get there they will run tests and take new images to get clear pictures for themselves. They will then start working on a plan for my care. They are going to stabilize my heart rate, breathing levels and start the new medication. If that all goes well, they will work on a plan for my hybrid surgery. And then the next steps all depend on my recovery.
I have a BIG battle ahead of me and I am excited to share it with all of you! Please keep sending all of your positive vibes, prayers, well wishes and all of the love! I am loving you all back! Also, please keep my mommy, daddy, Big Brother Abel and BroDog Chip in your thoughts too. This is going to be hard for them but with your love and support they will get through this too!
Hugs and kisses and all the love,
Cali (Calisaurus)
