Baby Caper's Medical Journey

If you're here now, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read about this precious baby boy's story. This here is Baby Caper. I'll start by telling you a little about his amazing parents, Anda and Charles. Caper's mom, Anda, struggled with getting pregnant for what seemed like forever, until finally, Charles and her got the best news of their lives: They were going to be parents! All of Caper's family and friends were over the moon to hear that he was coming, and we couldn't wait. Anda had a completely normal and healthy pregnancy. She made it to full term at 40 weeks and after 2 beautiful baby showers, nursery building, and prepping for Baby Caper's arrival, we all waited anxiously for him to be here. When we got news that Caper was born on November 30th, 2023 at 10:03PM, we couldn't contain our joy! Everyone rushed to meet this perfect, Baby Boy.
Shortly after his arrival, he was taken to the NICU because he had swallowed some fluid during birth. However, Anda and Charles were told this was no big deal. Unfortunately, things took a hard turn. What first started out to be a routine round of antibiotics and just a few nights in the NICU, suddenly turned into something more serious.
As soon as Caper's team started monitoring him in the NICU, they realized he was having trouble breathing on his own. Again, no biggie, easy fix, and they started him on oxygen. Well, when they realized this didn't help and he was having even more alarming episodes, more tests would later show that Caper was now having multiple seizures, almost non-stop. To stop the seizures, Caper is now heavily sedated. Caper was able to breathe on his own before the seizures but is now intubated.
After an MRI scan, the results show that Caper was born with a rare genetic condition called Hemimegalencephaly. This means that one side of Caper's brain is larger than the other and because of this, Caper, a beautiful 7lb, newborn baby, now has to undergo brain surgery.
Caper is the sweetest baby with the warmest presence. Anda and Charles just want him home, but until then, the hospital is their home. This is every parent's nightmare, but with your support and comfort, Anda, Charles and Caper will make it through, stronger than before. Your donation will help with any medical costs so that Anda and Charles can give all their attention and focus to Caper and not have to worry about the financials along with everything else.
We thank you for making it this far and supporting Baby Caper, Anda and Charles.
