Harrison’s Heart

On Tuesday December 27th, Harrison John Carriker was born at Boston Childrens Hospital in Boston MA. He is diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart and on Thursday the 29th he underwent his first open heart surgery. This GoFundMe is an attempt to help alleviate the medical costs and logistics for Brett and Christina as they take care of their growing family and Harrison’s heart. If you can donate and share please do so, but prayers and requests to the good Lord for Harrison to heal and join his family at home!

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a rare congenital heart defect. The left side of the heart has not developed properly. The heart's left side is too small to pump blood to the rest of the body so the right side of the heart has to take over to pump blood to both their lungs and body. This essentially means Harrison was born with half of a functioning heart. This condition requires a minimum of 3 surgeries to repair. The first surgery took place in on the 29th, the 2nd surgery around 5 months and 3rd between 2-5 years.

Brett and Christina have been so lucky to be in the hands of the amazing doctors at Boston Children's Hospital and to live locally. Although they are in the best medical hands they can ask for, they are living out of range of immediate family and this adds to complications with life and balancing daily tasks for their growing family. They have a very scary, stressful, and uncertain road ahead of them and this outreach for help is to help alleviate some of their stresses so they can focus on the baby. If you have it in your heart to help them in any way please do. Any little bit helps and if you can not give financially, continued prayers and sharing this story on any social media site will be just as helpful.

All of money raised will be so Brett and Christina can focus on Baby Carriker’s recovery and continue to nourish and raise Lincoln. Funds will help with hotel, gas, food, sitters/family members for Lincoln, medical bills, dog walkers for Jack etc.. Thank you all for all of your prayers and support.
