Baby Elanor and The Reimer's

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Makayla and I am organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of my sister-in-law, Elisha, my brother-in-law, Justin, and their newborn daughter, Elanor.

UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM:

Shortly after bringing their daughter home from the hospital in Moncton, Elanor was admitted back into medical care due to a high fever and weight decrease. In the process of treating Elanor's fever, it was discovered that she had a serious infection in her knee and hip, her hip is displaced, she has a heart murmur and is also allergic to regular formula/breast milk, requiring a special formula. Elanor was quickly sent to a larger hospital in Halifax, where they have been for the past few weeks.

Elanor has since had surgery to remove the infection from her knee and hip but the infection had also spread to her bloodstream, causing her high fever. She has finally been able to have a PICC line inserted to help treat the infection faster and reducing the amount of needles Elanor requires per day.

Although Elanor is slowly healing, she is not in the clear just yet. They will have to keep Elanor in the hospital until December 26th, at the very least. They have placed her in a brace to help develop her hip socket properly and will need constant check ups once they finally leave the hospital to monitor her hip development and to see if the infection affected her growth plates.

They still do not know what caused the initial infection and we are praying for answers soon. In the meantime, my sister-in-law, Elisha, is staying full time in the hospital to care for Elanor with visits/relief care coming from her husband, mother-in-law and her mother.

With holidays coming soon we understand that funds can be quite tight, but we would love to be able to ease the stress from this young family during such a stressful time in their lives. They do not have any family near Halifax so they are having to travel back and forth for all visits and will have to continue to return to Halifax for all follow up appointments in their future. On top of the travel costs, we know first hand how expensive it can get with food costs, since there is no kitchen available for them and Justin has dietary restrictions as well.

If you are able to donate, thank you very much, any amount will mean so much to them. If you are not able to donate we thank you for your time, and we kindly ask that you share this post.

UPDATE NOV 22:
We would like to first thank our community for the support that Elisha and Justin are receiving. This means so much to them and in time they will be able to reach out to thank you all but for now, I will thank you all on their behalf. We are a family of ‘helpers’ so it’s quite surreal to feel so much love and support coming back so quickly. Now, on to our little lady update.
Elanor had a tender spot show up on her shoulder on Monday evening. A specialist team was called in to do a consult. Elanor had a full body MRI on Tuesday (luckily, she slept through the procedure and did not require anesthesia). The MRI has shown that her shoulder joint also has a mass of infection. This means she has had infection in three joints with no answer as to a cause. The MRI has also shown that the current brace for her hip is not working so they have a consult requested for another team of specialists to decide on next steps in regards to her hip. Elanor has lost weight again but is holding strong and the weight loss is likely due to fighting the infection. More updates to come.

I will keep this page updated with baby Elanor's progress as we find out more information.

Thank you all for your time and happy holidays from the Miller's and Reimer's!
