Baby Evelyn Sawyer

Donation protected
Our dear friends, Ethan and Kieri Sawyer, are currently in the hospital with their sweet new baby girl Evelyn, who is just a couple of weeks old. After being taken to the small hospital in Juneau, Alaska with a fever she was found to be infected with Group B Strep, requiring  medical evacuation to Anchorage, Alaska for further care. She received 5 Lumbar punctures was ultimately diagnosed with meningitis (an infection of tissue surrounding her brain and spinal cord). Her recovery will be a long and expensive process - In addition to the cost of 2 hospitalizations and medical evacuation, they require short-term housing in Anchorage and possible trips back and forth between Juneau and Anchorage for follow up with specialists that are not available in Juneau. Let’s help lighten their financial stress during this challenging time. If you don’t have the means to donate, we ask for continued prayers for baby Evie.

These are from Ethan’s most recent Facebook posts:
“At a tough time in our lives, I reach out as a father and husband, to ask for prayers for our baby girl Evelyn. We know the Lord hears our voice. She is currently very sick in the hospital. She has a very serious infection. She has been a champ through the last two days here. We are grateful for your love and support During this challlenging time.“

“Update: on Saturday the decision was made to Medivac our sweet Evelyn from Juneau to Anchorage. She was dehydrated and her iv deteriorated. She was a trooper as well as her momma. Mom and baby arrived safely in Anchorage. Upon arrival they placed an iv and she started to receive fluids as well as antibiotics. While there was no official diagnosis, the doctors in Juneau had already started the antibiotics to treat what they thought might be the problem. On Sunday, the fifth and final attempt at a successful lumbar puncture was made. They gained access to the spinal fluid. Upon testing they found the bacteria common in meningitis. While not great news, we are grateful for the closure. Evelyn is mostly hydrated, eating well and looks much better than 24 hours previous. She is a rockstar. While we are not out of the woods we certainly feel blessed for all of the love and support in behalf of our baby Evelyn. She has been patient and it would seem she will be poked significantly less now. Your continued prayers are appreciated and we hope for a great healing process for her. Evelyn’s best days are yet to come. We love you all and thank you”
