Help Baby Fight Club Recover From The Trailer Accident
Donation protected
Cameron, Allison and the entire Baby Fight Club [BFC] Crew need your help!
On July 21st, 2024, after putting on an amazing show and theme camp at Lakes of Fire Festival in Rothbury, Michigan, USA, Team Leads Allison Bolton and Cameron Matthew Vannatter were traveling home when their truck and trailer were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. With insurance not covering the trailer/towing from the accident scene, impound lot fees, storage locker fees, dj gear damaged from the crash itself, personal injuries and lost time from work - the team is reaching out to the community for any and all assistance at this time.
What Happened?
One of the trailer tires blew after hitting a bridge expansion joint on US 31 S which caused a traumatic chain reaction as it put the truck and trailer into a dangerous speed wobble. Thankfully no other vehicles were involved, but despite best efforts to stop the trailer from flipping over, the trailer jack-knifed and then dragged the truck along the guardrail while facing the river below. The police were able to clean up the accident scene and tow the trailer to an impound where a bruised and battered Allison and Cameron alone had to sort through the chaos of everything thrown around in the trailer. Most personal items were then moved to a nearby storage unit for later retrieval in early August (Storage rental costs = $152 & Uhaul rental + fuel for round trip to retrieve supplies = $300). The cost alone to tow the trailer off the Highway less than 15 miles was later reported at $10, 810. Hotel costs for additional nights spent in the USA as it took time over the next 5 days to drive back safely to Toronto, Ontario, Canada were around $825 and the truck barely made it back at all.
Since being back in Canada, the truck and trailer have been officially deemed a write off. The insurance company has declined to cover the clearing the accident scene and the trailer damage (estimated value for a 2006 wilderness trailer is $6000). The trailer has now sat in an impound yard since July 22nd, 2024 incurring costs awaiting the insurance company's deliberation of the “no coverage” verdict - upwards of $10,000 for 60 days and counting. Additionally, Cameron had his entire dj gear tossed around in the trailer and soaked from rain that came in the damaged wall post collision. (Estimated damage to two different pieces of lighting equipment and speaker monitor = $400). Furthermore, Cameron's injuries from the accident caused him to miss 1.5 weeks of work after returning to home. (Averaging about $1000/week of lost wages).
How does this impact Baby Fight Club and those that run it?
Since 2021, Cameron and the Baby Fight Crew have been touring different events across North America and putting on the most comedic, interactive, theatrical and musical performance known as Baby Fight Club. All of these performances have been funded out of pocket by Cameron Matthew Vannatter, Allison Bolton and the Baby Fight Crew. Allison’s parents have always been the biggest supporters of the team by loaning out their truck, trailer and any additional equipment needed to help make these performances a reality. The accident has now caused much grief for Allison's family since they are the formal owners of the items that got damaged beyond repair in the crash. For those of you who do not know Allison’s parents, they have always opened their home and hearts to all those in need that cross their path. The kind of people that always have an ear to listen, an extra meal to offer or a helping hand no matter what time of day it is. That being said, until the team can fundraise enough to cover all the costs that were incurred from the accident, we are at a standstill in terms of our ability to continue to put on these performances that many have grown to love.
While BFC is so grateful to have their team leads alive, on the mend and most of our gear back in Canada, the team faces some pretty serious financial challenges right now (estimated $30,000+ CAD) and appreciate any and all help that our community can muster.
Thank you in advance for your donations both big and small, even a share on your social media - Every little bit helps and we appreciate you! <3
