Baby Griffin Alexander memorial fund

My sister Bre has always done everything she puts her mind to, to the best of her ability. When Alex and Bre decided they wanted to become parents they dedicated 10 months going to doctors appointments, lots of shots, hormone medications, more doctors appointments all to finally have a positive  pregnancy result, a baby boy, due 11/16/18. Alex, her wife was by her side for everything. Bre's pregnancy was beautiful and she did everything right. She followed every rule. Every appointment went well. Although pregnancy wasn't easy, everything was on track for a healthy baby.

On the evening of Wednesday, 11/14/18 Bre was relaxing on the couch when she felt her very active baby do a big movement. It was sudden and not like his normal movements. She got ready for bed and went to sleep. A few hours later she woke up to use the bathroom and tried to get him to move and she didn't have success so she called her doctor and they said to just come in. At the hospital they hooked up the doppler and it was silent. There was always a heartbeat right away. She knew he was gone.

Over the next 2 days they induced her labor, broke her water and she labored all while dealing with the sudden shock and grief of losing their son. All this ended with a c-section. Griffin Alexander Dedrickson was born an angel at 10:28pm on his due date 11/16/18. He was absolutely perfect and beautiful. He was a big boy, 9 pounds and a long 22.5 inches. His cord was wrapped around his neck 4 times, quadruple nuchal cord (there is a .1% chance of this happening). When he made that sudden, odd movement on Wednesday night the cord pulled so tight that his oxygen was immediately cut off and he passed away.  We spent 18 hours holding him, singing to him, rocking him and giving him as much love as we would cram into the short time.

To have a perfect pregnancy and for it to all change in a moment because of a rare, unpreventable cord accident is utterly heart breaking. His mommies were so ready. His aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, great grandparents, neighbors  and friends were eager to shower him with love. We will never get to hear his sweet coos and cries, know his personality (although we suspect he would've been fierce and strong), and see him go through milestones.

We feel all the love surrounding us and we are forever grateful for that. So many people have delivered meals and other thoughtful gifts. Thank you!! So many more have said they want to help and that is why I have created this memorial fund. I don't want money to be a burden or stressor. Hospital bills, therapy, memorializing him in their own ways, whatever helps them. We are forever changed and so sad and miss our handsome Griffy Guy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your condolences, prayers, and love.
