Hazel's Critical Care Vet Bills
Chaz and I have been anxiously awaiting the day we could finally get ourselves a puppy. With COVID-19, and Chaz having the ability to work from home, we finally decided to bite the bullet. We found baby Hazel, a perfect bright red F1b Goldendoodle puppy located about 2 hours away in Pennsylvania. We jumped in our car to go meet her and fell in love immediately. Hazel, who was apprehensive and shy at first, warmed up to us quickly after bringing her home. She loves being the grass and cuddling.
Only 5 short days after bringing Hazel home she started acting sick with vomiting, diarrhea, and no interest in food or water. We quickly took her to the vet to find out she had Parvovirus. Parvovirus is a life-threatening virus for puppies.. especially those who are not vaccinated. Hazel is only 8 weeks old with only one set of vaccines. We had to emergently take her to a local animal hospital where she is admitted to the critical care unit. There is no medication specifically for Parvovirus so we have to wait until the virus runs its course and provide here with supportive care.
Due to COVID-19 we aren’t able to visit Hazel in the hospital. Hazel is currently receiving IV fluids and electrolytes. The vet was hoping she would show an interest in food, but she has not and therefor requires an NG tube to be placed in her nose to give her nutrients. At this time, the vet remains cautiously optimistic but Hazel's survival is not guaranteed. Chaz and I normally wouldn't ask for financial help, but we are unsure how long we will be able to cover her vet bills. Hazel has only been admitted for one overnight and at this time her bills have surpassed $3,000. We anticipate her needing to remain hospitalized for anywhere from 5-11 days.
Even if you can’t financially donate please keep our baby in your thoughts and prayers.
