Baby Joey's surgery and recovery from a brain tumour

My name's Tara and I'm writing this to raise funds for my sweet 3 month old nephew, Joey and his parents Holly and Blake.

A little over three weeks ago Holly and Blake received the absolutely heart-breaking news that their beautiful 3-month-old, Joey, has a large brain tumour. Since then, they’ve been away from home, staying first at John Hunter Hospital then Westmead Children’s hospital in Sydney doing everything they can to support their baby boy.

Joey’s tumour is about the size of a mandarin and is putting a lot of pressure on his optic nerves, affecting his eye sight and surrounding structures of his brain. He has had numerous tests, scans, MRI’s and brain surgery to take a biopsy. We now know that Joey will need to undergo a second, more extensive brain surgery to remove the tumour on Tuesday 12th November at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

Holly and Blake will of course continue to stay by Joey’s side, travelling from Newcastle to Sydney as needed. They will both be required to take time off work for the foreseeable future to ensure Joey has all the support he needs during and after surgery. They will be doing everything possible to support their son back to full health.

Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be used directly to help this beautiful family with medical expenses, ongoing treatments, rehabilitation and any additional care that Joey may need during his recovery.
