Baby Jupi's veterinary expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Holly. I am putting together a fundraiser to help GRS' very own Nat with one of her furbabies. For those who do not know Nat's dog, Drops of Jupiter, aka Baby Jupi, has had ongoing digestive issues since June 2020. Initially, it was thought to be stress-related tied to major losses in Nat's family during that summer, but as his issues continued, it became apparent there was definitely more going on. We need to find out while he keeps puking, and just like human medical care, pet medical care is not cheap, even with insurance. Nat is embarrassed to ask for help, but we need to help with Baby Jupi's on-going veterinary diagnostic testing as Nat has definitely reached the end of her financial resources. And, I believe that people WANT to help animals who cannot speak for themselves. This photo of Jupi shows how he is feeling these days.
Nat has exhausted the entirety of the academic resources of the whole vet staff at her vet clinic, and was referred to the University of Minnesota for an Internal Medicine Specialist.
Jupiter is currently, in an ideal world, on a schedule of medications & feedings every 2 hours around the clock for the forseeable future (since October 2022). When the schedule is disrupted, Jupi vomits and asperation pneumonia is a very valid (and scary) concern right now. Nat is getting over Covid, so was unable to follow the strict schedule.
Current costs:
Case of 12 cans of prescription food: ~$58 (1-2 cans/day)
Nausea medication: minimum $85/month (up to $45/day on really bad days)
Abdominal ultrasound: ~$900
Initial U of M consult, abdominal xrays & additional bloodwork: $900
Esophogram: $800
Endoscopy estimate: $2,000-3,000 *awaiting U of M to call to schedule
These are not all inclusive costs, as it doesn't include other veterenary exams, urgent care visits, etc. And until a result is found, there may be other tests, too.
If you are able/willing to help with some of these expenses, please donate to this fundraiser. Jupi is the cutest and sweetest (and has visited the office in the past when we have some paper to be shredded).
