Love for Baby Leinani
This site has been setup to support and help Gina Goldschmitz, Michael Long and their two daughters Makayla and Kaia share their story.
My daughter Gina is 32 weeks pregnant with a baby girl named Leinani Josephine. In the past weeks Gina has been feeling like something was wrong; the pregnancy wasn’t feeling quite right. She requested a visit with her doctor for a checkup. Ultrasound results showed some abnormalities and this prompted her to go in for additional testing. The Specialists made a clinical diagnosis based on their findings that the baby has either Meckel Gruber or Trisomy 13 which are rare genetic disorders. We learned yesterday Trisomy 13 tests were negative but not ruled out completely.
We ask for your help and prayers for this family. At times we are delivered challenges that test our strengths. This is definitely one for this family to face. It is with a very heavy heart to say their precious Leinani Josephine is not expected to survive.

Gina has a follow-up appointment this week and may be referred to labor and delivery for induction. Michael and Gina have some very difficult days ahead of them.
Gina recently left her position at the Cherokee Tavern in St. Paul to stay home with baby and open a licensed daycare this fall. This campaign will help fund memorial expenses and offset medical bills while the family recovers from their loss. My heart aches for her and her family and for the years of heartache and healing ahead. Please help us by making a donation so medical bills and funeral costs won't be part of that future.
