Small but Mighty: Fundraising for Baby Letheby's NICU Costs

I am organizing this fundraiser for my Sister, her husband & their baby boy. Marisa was put out of work and admitted for sudden pre-eclampsia at 26 weeks, which worsened and progressed to HELLP syndrome, a rare condition in which led to her delivering early because her organs were shutting down. On February 25th, their tiny miracle was born three months early. They have a little boy who is a fighter, was born weighing only 1 pound and 3 oz. Right now, Marisa and baby are stable and doing well on the right path. Baby boy has been so strong since day one, and he continues to grow stronger every day, but his stay and need for medical care isn’t over yet. They ask for everyone's prayers and positivity especially in the next few months.

It has been a difficult time for both Alex and Marisa being away from the baby & from loved ones while doing their best for him & to heal themselves. We are starting a fund to help with any expenses that they may come across on this journey such as medical bills, lodging and transportation, since the baby is in a NYC NICU not close to home. He has already accumulated over $100,000 in expenses and will be there some time longer.

We ask at this time to refrain from reaching out to Marisa as it is very overwhelming, and this time needs to be spent with her child instead of answering everyone with updates. Her and Alex appreciate all of your love and prayers.

Marisa has always been a helpful & loving practitioner, nurse, friend and family member. I hope at this time she gets some of that help and love back. While we cannot lessen the stress and emotional journey their family continues to navigate, we are hoping you will join us in raising funds to help ease a little the financial burden.
