Baby Liam’s journey
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
Words cannot describe how lost and scared Mom and Dad are going through this rough patch in life. We welcomed baby Liam to this world at 36 weeks old, and we are blessed that Mama was able to carry him for that long so he could grow and develop his organs as much as time allowed.
Unfortunately, baby Liam was diagnosed with multi Cystic dysplastic kidneys, and at 30 weeks old, he was in mama's belly without amniotic fluid until birth. At birth, his lungs collapsed due to the fluid situation, and he was intubated immediately, but he miraculously recovered from that and did not need a chest tube to heal the pneumothorax.
He has undergone his first surgery to plant a peritoneal tube in his stomach so that dialysis can begin as soon as possible since he is not outputting any urine at all. He has also been diagnosed with hypertension as there is nowhere for the liquids to escape, sending his blood pressure skyrocketing. It's day 3 since birth as we are writing this, and he has yet to nurse. They have limited his liquid input to 3.8mls per day, which barely covers all the nutrients and chemical compounds he needs to stay alive. Hopefully, in a few days, they will be able to do dialysis so he can finally start nursing, and Mama has been doing a great job preparing all the milk he will need for immediate feeding.
Amy and Jonathan "the parents": We are both full-time employees with a wonderful 2.5-year-old son at home. At this moment, we are blessed with FMLA and staying with baby Liam as much as we can.
The Need: We need your prayers above everything else! We have personal experiences with the power of prayer, so we need all of you prayer warriors to get down on your knees and pray for our child to come out of this recovered, happy, and healthy.
They say "It Takes a Village to raise a child" and that is where we find ourselves at this moment, Mom and Dad will greatly appreciate your Donations that will help fund Food-lodging and out-of-pocket Medical expenses.
There is no outpatient dialysis for baby Liam until he is big enough to tolerate Hemodialysis. The doctors broke the news to us that he will be staying at the hospital for 4-6 months and possibly longer.
Every small amount will go a long way in helping us navigate this turbulent time and be with Liam at the hospital as much as we are allowed to.
