Baby Lorant and Baby Augusto in the NICU
Donation protected
My cousin Marianela and her two babies need your help. Marianela's symptoms began a month and a half before she was meant to give birth. After five hours of severe pain and non-stop vomiting, Marianela was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered her blood pressure was dangerously high and recommended her twins be delivered six weeks early via C-Section.
After the delivery, Marianela remained very ill and it was determined that her twin pregnancy had actually moved her stomach upwards, rupturing a hernia operation from 20 years prior and obstructing her esophagus. Her medical team immediately operated to free the stomach and reconstruct the hiatal hernia operation. Due to all of the complications, Marianela's twin babies are now in the NICU and will be for the foreseeable future.
Here is what's happening in Marianela's own words:
Lorant and Augusto were born on February 10, six weeks early. Because of the complications we went through, they now require special care, as well as special cribs that have the appropriate equipment for their oxygen, temperature, and lighting to make sure that their vital signs and blood levels are at an optimal level and that the babies don't get any infections.
Since they have not developed the sucking reflex yet, they can't eat without a feeding tube and have continued to lose weight due to this and other complications.
While the doctors struggle to stabilize their health, the hospital bills are already starting to pile up. The costs are increasing considerably every day and the insurance does not cover the majority of them.
This is why we are starting this Gofundme. Every contribution helps us get ahead and continue to care for our precious babies.
We appreciate all your contributions and if you can't contribute financially please help us by sharing this message. Thank you.
