Help Baby Luca's Recovery Journey ❤️

I recently experienced a medical crisis, which caused our 25 week old son to decided he would make an early entrace to this world! Because of the rural location we live, there were no services that could care for our condition, so we were taken via emergency medical plane to UCSF, 5 hours away from home. Our little light bringer, Luca, who arrived in this world at 1.41 lbs, is now in the capable hands of UCSF NCU team. He will spend approximately the next 3 months here while he recovers from a blood infection, heals from his lung injury, and continues growing and developing his tiny little body. I had a c-section, so I will be recovering for 6 weeks, and my sweet husband Oscar will be taking leave for a few weeks to care for me. I will continue to stay in San Francisco to support little Luca until he is able to go home. This was all very sudden and unexpected. The hospital staff has been very helpful in finding us accommodations and food assistance, but unfortunately, just like all of us, we have bills and expenses that don't take breaks! Oscar will also need to be making the 5 hour drive to visit Luca as regularly as possible, as dad is also a very important part of a babies recovery. We are asking for the help of the wonderful people in our lives so we can focus on supporting or sweet little preemie son as best as we are able. As our stays here progress, we are finding things will be more complicated and costly than we anticipated, so we are increasing our goal to cover these expenses. We can't say enough how deeply we appreciate the love and support we are receiving in this difficult time.
