Baby Mable Surgery

My husband and I were overjoyed when our first great-grandchild was born on June 2, 2023, in Loveland, Colorado. At 3 weeks of age, our precious, Mable Jean, was referred to Children’s Hospital, Denver, by her pediatrician.

The pediatric team at Children’s Hospital diagnosed her with craniosynostosis. This condition occurs in approx. 1 in 2,500 births and results in pre-mature (in the womb) fusing of skull bones. This condition presents with a mis-shapen head and can restrict normal brain growth and development.

The treatment for this condition is surgery. While her parents, Josh and Mechole, have health insurance for Mable Jean, Children’s Hospital was not in their network. After contacting their health insurer, Children’s Hospital will be added to their network, after an additional deductible is paid. Having already paid their annual deductible for her birth, this places another large expense on their budget.

Additionally, they have exhausted their family leave/personal day benefits used for her birth.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe account will be used to satisfy additional medical deductibles, and household expenses (loss of income) incurred during surgery and recovery time.
