Baby Maliya Liana's Recovery Fund from NICU Care
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michelle - sister to Rylie Houston.
On July 6th, 2022 Baby Maliya Liana joined us in this beautiful world.
Unfortunately, after attempting a natural birth, a last-minute C-section was required for Rylie due to fetal distress & stalled labor, and Baby Maliya Liana was rushed immediately to the NICU due to serious lung complications, and then taken in an ambulance to the Children's Hospital for specialty care.
Baby Maliya spent 3 weeks in the hospital, including almost 2 in the NICU, but is now home with her parents & recovering well.
At this time, with these unexpected circumstances, we're hoping you can donate and gift in lieu of sending baby clothes, toys, books, etc. to support this little family. There is some insurance coverage, but the total out-of-pocket costs are still unknown. Additionally, Rylie will be needing to take extended leave from work to take extra special care of baby.
Our goal is to raise $10,000-$15,000 to help with any immediate expenses and relieve any undue financial stress on this new family so they can focus on what matters most. They've had a tough start. They'll be applying for Financial Aid & have some insurance, but your support is much appreciated.

Here is Their Original Story:
Hi Friends & Family.
Our baby girl had a really rough start.
We know how much you'll love her as you love us. Sparing all the technical medical details, she was born with a ton of yuck in her lungs and was swollen from birth stress. I had to have an emergency C - Section after 12 hours of labor & 8 hours of active pushing.
I am still recovering, but healing well.
Baby Maliya had to be immediately transferred to the NICU at the Children's Hospital. It was terrifying and she was on a ventilator, painkillers, sedatives, meds & had to have a blood transfusion.
She is currently off most of her meds, all the sedatives & painkillers & the ventilator. We're still in the NICU, & she's still on about 32% oxygen support & receiving fluids intravenously. She's drinking mostly my milk through a tube in her nose to her tum. I haven't been able to directly feed her yet.
We're hoping to move out of the NICU in a couple of days to an observation room & hopefully home a few days after that. Please send us all your happy thoughts. She is our everything.
I didn't get to hold her until the 3rd day. It's been difficult to say the least. Thank you for all of the messages & well wishes. Especially from all the mamas who truly understand my current nightmare. We love you. If you don’t hear back from us right away, stay tuned.
Love,
Rylie, Chad & Maliya Liana.
