Baby Martin IVF Fund: Shay & Tanner Martin

This is our daughter Shay and her husband Tanner Martin (and their Schnoodle Luke!). Shay is our oldest child. Here’s their story.

Shay and Tanner were married in October 2018. A little over two years later, right after their second anniversary, Tanner was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.

They were devastated but moved on the best they could, both focusing on Tanner’s treatments, school, and trying to live some semblance of a normal life.

It’s been two and a half years. They have been through a lot. Tanner has had multiple surgeries, 24 chemo cycles, radiation, and so much more.

They have stayed positive and grown close to many family, friends, and others through their journey. So many good people have blessed their lives.

They just found out a few weeks ago that Tanner’s cancer is no longer curable. Then a week later, he was given a two-to-five-year life expectancy.

One of Tanner's wishes in life is to be a dad, and Shay wants more than anything to make that happen for him. Knowing how his cancer treatments would impact that possibility, they prepared.

Now, with this most recent news, they feel a sense of urgency. They have decided that they want to share as much of a family experience as they can together; pregnancy, baby planning, birthing, parenting, etc.

They are preparing for IVF treatments so that they can have that blessing, even if it’s for a short time now.

IVF is expensive, especially for two college students. So, they are going to hold an auction fundraiser to help raise the $15-20,000 they need for the procedure. They wanted to "work" for their donations so they decided the auction would be the best way.

However, in posting about this auction on social media, we have had many requests for a GoFundMe link from many who want to donate.

Shay and Tanner will be auctioning off different items and services including a wedding photography package and family photo package (Shay has a photography business), a premium, full car detail service, and more.

They will be posting a video about their story on Shay’s IG (@shaylynnright) on Friday, April 7th. The auction will start on her IG the following week on April 14th and will close on April 21st.
