Baby Melanie fund

Donation protected
Our baby girl Melanie has been diagnosed at the tender age of 2 months with the rare end stage liver disease known as Biliary Atresia. We were told that without surgical intervention, very few babies with this disease live past their second birthday. She immediately underwent surgery to try and save her liver. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful and Melanie suffered liver failure a few days ago, causing fluid to build up in her abdomen which put pressure on her stomach and lungs. She is now in critical condition at the pediatric intensive care unit of Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, where she has been sedated and intubated since she is unable to eat or breathe on her own. At this point her only chance of survival is to receive a liver tranplant. She has been placed on the donor list but there is no guarantee a donor will be found in time. We are now reaching out to friends, family, and even complete strangers in the hopes of finding someone with a compatible liver willing to donate a small part of it to save our little girl's life.

Along with the stress and heartache of trying to save our baby girl, this situation has also placed a heavy financial burden on top of us. Even with a successful transplant, Melanie will be on medication and require constant medical attention for the rest of her life. With the loss of half our income to allow our baby to have her mother by her side, our financial situation will not be sufficient to cover all the medical expenses needed for Melanie's recovery and medical care.

We have set up this fund in the hopes of not only helping our family cover medical costs, but also to cover any costs that might be incurred by her living donor. Additionally we are hoping to do what we can to raise awareness of this rare condition to prevent other families from having to go through this same situation and help families already fighting this disease.

************UPDATE!!!!*************
Baby Melanie has been blessed with the gift of life!! We were fortunate enough to receive a liver donation from a deceased donor, may God bless them, so Baby Melanie underwent a 10 hour operation on May 16 . Thankfully our baby girl survived the operation and has been recovering at the hospital.
We are currently still inpatient at the hospital since Melanie had a few unforeseen complications from surgery and from being sick and in critical condition for so long.
We have no yet received a discharge date. Now more then ever we need your support for the medicines and expenses that have been incurred while we have been in the hospital .. going on 2 and half months now.

Anything donated will be deeply appreciated beyond words and an immense help.

If you haven't already, please join our Facebook group we have made for Melanie where we are sharing ways to help as well as updates on her condition.
