Baby Milani's Family Needs Your Love and Support

My name is Veronica Rojas. I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Angelica.

At just 9 months old, Baby Milani has already shown more strength and resilience than most of us will in a lifetime. Though she was born a healthy and happy baby, her life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with a severe heart condition a few months ago. Her little heart began to struggle, and despite the best efforts of her doctors, it became clear that her heart could no longer keep up on its own.

Just today, Baby Milani underwent a critical surgery to connect her to a ventricular assist device (VAD)—a machine that keeps her heart pumping while she waits for a lifesaving heart transplant. This device is keeping her alive, but the journey is far from over. The wait for a donor heart can be unpredictable, and during this time, her family is facing immense emotional, physical, and financial challenges. My sister Angelica, known to many as “Gely” (Milani’s mom) is no longer able to go back to work so she can be with Milani during her recovery. My sister has 3 more kids at home to take care of; Leo, Abiel, and Yansi.

Hola, mi nombre es Verónica Rojas y estoy creando esta cuenta en nombre de mi hermana Angelica. Con solo 9 meses de vida, la pequeña Milani ya ha demostrado más fuerza y resistencia que muchos de nosotros en toda una vida. Aunque nació como una bebé sana y feliz, su vida dio un giro inesperado hace unos meses cuando le diagnosticaron una grave afección cardíaca. Su pequeño corazón comenzó a fallar, y a pesar de los mejores esfuerzos de sus médicos, se hizo evidente que su corazón ya no podía funcionar por sí solo.

Hace poco, la pequeña Milani tuvo que someterse a una cirugía crítica para conectarla a un dispositivo de asistencia ventricular (VAD), una máquina que mantiene su corazón latiendo mientras espera un trasplante de corazón que le salvará la vida. Este dispositivo le está dando tiempo, pero el camino que tiene por delante es largo y lleno de retos. La espera por un corazón donado es impredecible, y durante este tiempo, su familia enfrenta inmensos desafíos emocionales, físicos y financieros. Mi hermana (la mamá de Milani) no podrá regresar a trabajar para cuidar de Milani durante su recuperación. Mi hermana tiene 3 hijos más en casa; Leo, Abiel y Yansi.
