Baby Juan-Luc’s Medical Expense Help Fund

My brother Juan and sister-in-law Melize’s 
baby boy Juan-Luc Language was born at 34
weeks on the 28th of July 2020 weighing
1.9kg with a birth defect called Gastroschisis.

We as a family would like to help them with
the astronomical medical costs by creating a
fund to help cover these expenses.

This condition occurs when an opening forms
in the baby's abdominal wall allowing the
bowel to push through the hole & develop
outside of the baby's body in the amniotic
fluid. In Juan-Luc's case it was all of his small
intestine that developed outside his little
body.

A very large and complicated operation right
after birth was unavoidable & our family were so fortunate to come across  doctor Professor Brown a pediatric surgeon who specialises in
neonatal surgery and paediatric gastroenterology.

Juan & Melize had to relocate temporarily
from Jeffreys Bay to Cape Town, South Africa where they would be assisted by Professor
Brown and a team of 5 medical specialists.

The surgery was done directly after Juan-Luc's birth and was a big success according to the doctors. He is currently in intensive care in the Neonatal unit of Panorama Mediclinic,
Cape Town where he will be for between 4
weeks to 3 months depending on his recovery in hospital.

Juan & Melize knew there would be additional medical costs and tried to make provision for
this, but the scope of the charges is much 
more than they could have ever imagined.

Koos De Witt & Kie accountants.
