Baby Niko's NICU Journey
Donation protected
Hello my name is Rebeccalyn, I am making this Gofundme on behalf of my brother John and sister in-law Tara. On August 27th at 8:27am my nephew Niko Amariah Gonzales was born at 32 weeks gestational, he came in to this world slightly under 4lbs. As a result from a very complicated/traumatic delivery for Tara, John and baby Niko, he was airlifted to St. Lukes which is equipped with a level four NICU and Tara was transferred by ambulance for higher care. During delivery doctors used "Ventouse" vacuum extraction on baby Niko not once, not twice, but three times before successfully getting baby Niko out. Which resulted in excess blood rapidly filling his skull within the first few hours of life the excess blood went from 28cm to 31cm. Baby Niko has already had multiple blood transfusions, been on a ventilator. Doctors are currently running ultra sounds, CT scans, and will be doing other test to see if there has been any kind of brain damage.
Being a mom of five premature babies myslef I fully understand the uphill battle they will be facing over the next few months not only financially but mentally and emotionally. Being a NICU parent is one of the hardest things to go through and that's why I'm seeking help in hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden Nikos parents will be facing from missing work with his unexpected arrival, and to give them time to focus on baby until he is able to go home. All donations will go towards living expenses, food, and travel expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Niko's story and choosing to support him and his family in this long fight in the NICU. Updates will be given throughout this process and all prayers are welcomed!
