Baby Ridge Family Support

Hello everyone. Courtney and her family are working around the clock to care for baby Ridge who is currently in the PICU on a ventilator fighting to breathe. They do have insurance, however, the costs of fuel and care for their older son Asher and hospital extras are just more than they really need on their plate right now. I'm asking our community of they can find a few dollars to help support the family during this holiday when we are so wanting to give. Please know that your gift will give peace to a family who is struggling to keep their emotions at bay right now.

Their current situation

Ridge Update:

So far Ridge hasn’t made any improvements since being put on the ventilator. The doctors are saying that he just has an unbelievable amount of mucous in his lungs and we need to be patient and wait on them to start to clear up and go away. This RSV virus causes insane amounts of secretions/mucous and swelling of the bronchioles in the lungs and that’s what’s causing all the issues.

They are doing 2 different types of breathing treatments on him multiple times a day to try and make everything in his lungs looser. They are also suctioning the mucous/secretions out multiple times a day with a tube through his ventilator.

He also has a secondary lung infection bacterial pneumonia which isn’t helping. They have started antibiotics so I hope that starts to help soon!

He is sedated but unfortunately the picc line they put in yesterday is causing some issues with the port that they are giving him his sedation medicine through. They “think” they have it fixed now and he just needs to play catch up before the sedation medication will be affective. The other possibility is he may be becoming immune to the medicine and this is causing him to be very reactive to everything which doesn’t allow for much rest. They are looking into switching his sedation if he doesn’t start to relax soon.

They are also putting him on lasix to try and bring some swelling down he has in his face.

Todays plan is to just continue to allow his lungs to rest another day and we will see what tomorrow brings.
