Baby supply drive for Dominican Maternity Hospital
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
My name is Amy Paulino and I am a medical student in the Dominican Republic.
I have recently started my pediatrics rotation in a maternity hospital that has very low resources. It is one of the most under supplied hospitals in the country and they are in need of a lot of supplies urgently! Not only are they struggling with little supplies but they are also a very high volume hospital receiving many Dominican and immigrant patients of a low socioeconomic status. Many times doctors and nurses buy supplies for the babies or other poor families donate any extra material they didn’t use during their stay to the babies in need. Currently there are 4 abandoned babies that are being cared for by the NICU, mostly using makeshift, left over and donated supplies. Most of the babies are fed with disposable cups and if the parents didn’t have any clothes to bring they are dressed in disposable hair nets to keep them warm.
Thank you to all of those who reached out and encouraged me to make this fundraiser!
List of supplies needed:
-Diapers (literally an unlimited amount is needed)
-Baby Wipes
-Diaper rash cream
-Pads/adult diapers for the mothers
-Baby clothes- onesies, socks, hats, gloves
-baby blankets
-disposable changing pads
-baby bottles
-bottle sterilizer
-bulb syringes
1 John 3:16-18
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
