Baby Violet’s Healing Journey

Donation protected

Marc and Louise Guisar endured something all
parents fear, an emergency ambulance ride with
their one year old to the Randall’s Children hospital burn unit.

On Monday February 17th, Violet being an inquisitive one year old, created a brilliant pathway barely in reaching distance to the French press that was pushed to the back of the countertop. While mamas back was turned, and in a split second, boiling temp water went down her face, arm and chest. Louise called her husband Marc, then 911. She witnessed her little one literally melting in front of her. Fear, panic, and shock went through mama and Violet’s three older siblings.

The ambulance ride was traumatic , Louise watched her little girl go limp and lethargic from shock. Marc met them at the hospital where they were concerned with her heart and the shock she endured upon being burned, and the burn itself. She went into the care of excellent physicians and specialist who work with burns and didn’t waste any time. Once Violet was stabilized they knew this was the beginning of a new normal for them. Violet has many months of recovery ahead of her and physical therapy. Their new home is a large ICU room where they’ve set up home base.

To say the least the financial impact is going to be grueling as Marc has no paid time off work, and is the sole financial provider. He needs to be at the hospital to support his wife and three other kids. They have no idea when they will head home. Skin graph surgery is something the doctors are highly considering and watching the wounds day by day. The family will stay in the burn unit as long as long as needed, if graph surgery becomes inevitable it could be a month or more. Many doctor appointments and therapy appointments are on the calendar.

Their out of pocket cost are rocketing quickly, well above 16k and accruing. If you know this family at all they give freely of themselves and their resources. Louise is the first to every event, function, birthday, call for help, birth of a baby, she is the rock for her friends and family.....now she needs us to link arms and help them. They hate me, aunti Korina, putting this together....I’m making them accept it. They have a hard time asking for help.

Never...never...in my 25 years of knowing this family have I seen them ask for help. They prefer to be the ones giving. They work hard and love strong. Give what you can and let’s take the financial weight off their back so they can focus on helping their little one heal and mend.
