Hi! We are Abel’s mommy and daddy, Jessica and Victor Ford; we are here to share our baby’s story.
At 17 weeks pregnant we found out that our little boy had a Post Urethral Valve Blockage. Another words, he couldn’t pee and this changed our whole pregnancy and Abel’s life. During that same visit to the doctor’s office they thought our baby had a hand full of other issue and doctors did not expect to hear a heartbeat 10 days later at the follow up visit. WOW were they surprised when we Abel came into this world on June 18, 2015. Abel was born at UT Hospital here in Knoxville, Tennessee where he amazed doctors and nurses with his fight and courage.
This pregnancy had a lot of unknowns. While doctor’s told us one thing we believed this pregnancy and our baby was all in God’s hands. God gave Victor and me strength throughout the 9 months to ensure Abel had every opportunity that he needed.

With heavy hearts we will be burying our son this week. In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations to the UT Hospital’s NICU Building Fund. The UT NICU center is working on making sure that every baby has their own room.
While we were not really in the NICU it was the NICU nurses and doctors that did help our baby. It was these doctors and nurses that understood Victor’s and my wishes for our son. It was this team of wonderful people that gave us priceless moments with our son. They were tools of God. Because of this wonderful team of people we are forever grateful.
The day of Abel’s arrival was tough and I can only imagine what a mother and father feel as their baby fights for their life and the privacy that baby and family needs. When your moments with your baby could be numbered privacy and comfort should be the least of anyone’s worries, help us help UT provide these accommodations for them.
