Baby Corbin's surgery
Donation protected
My sweet, funny, charismatic baby nephew is going to be having surgery on the 16th of July for a Dermoid cyst that is current between the layers of his skull which has begun to slightly deform his skull. Before I get into that, let me tell you a little bit about my Corbin.
Corbin is a happy 18 month old who loves to run WILD and get into any thing and everything he can. He LOVES to dance (I will have to try and post a video of his sweet moves) and LOVES the movie Trolls. So much. Too much. Way too much. He also really loves trains which is a passion he shares with his older brother. Corbin also really enjoys being in the water. whether its the bath or the pool, you can always find him there! Corbin spends most of his time with his older brother Silas (more on Silas later; he may need to have a third surgery) and pretty much considers him his best friend I could go on and on. I mean, look at the cover photo I chose. He is such a goof ball! Now let me tell you about whats going on...
Dermoid cyst tend to have a pretty high occurrence rate but that doesn't make the surgery any less major. To give you a little background on what a Dermoid cyst is; a dermoid cyst is a teratoma of a cystic nature that contains an array of developmentally mature, solid tissues. It frequently consists of skin, hair follicles, and sweat glands, while other commonly found components include clumps of long hair, pockets of sebum, blood, fat, bone, nails, teeth, eyes, cartilage, and thyroid tissue. (according to the world wide web..) Dermoid cyst are normally found on the head, lower back, and ovaries. Most tend to be superficial but Corbin's seems to be locked between layers of his skull and is quickly trying to make its way out. Hopefully not into his brain. Corbin's is located on the left side of his skull on the top of his head. While Dermoid cyst aren't uncommon, we don't know with the placement of Corbin's whether it is causing him any pain or distress. Symptoms tend to include headaches, hearing problems, general discomfort, ect.

In order for Corbin to have the surgery he needs, he has to see a Neurosurgeon. Lets say it together, THAT AIN'T CHEAP. Unfortunately as well all know, insurance doesn't always pay for everything and they certainly don't help with the cost outside of the operating room. I've started this gofundme to help my sister's family with the cost. The cost doesn't just include whatever insurance isn't going to pay, but includes the hospital stay, and eating out because they won't be at home/may not have time to cook, gas money, having to take time off of work, having someone watch my oldest nephew, medication, ect. The list literally goes on and on.
Speaking of my oldest nephew, he is looking at having another (his THIRD and he's only 5) surgery on his eye. Unfortunately he had a cataract when he was a baby and we just can't seem to get his eye to work great since. His first surgery was to remove the lens and put in a prosthetic, his second surgery was to clean up scar tissue covering the lens , and his third will be to fix the muscles in his eye.

My sister's family has been through a lot with all of these surgeries. And they have worked hard to take care of it all by themselves. But enough is enough. Everybody needs help. Four surgeries in 5 years is a lot to deal with emotional and financially. I understand that not everybody has the money to donate, but anything counts. If all I see is people donating a $1 to help me get to my goal (and hopefully above it) I would be so grateful. Nobody should have to go through all of this. Like I said, ANYTHING helps, and we totally appreciate a prayer or a share. If there is anything you can do, share this so that we can get the word out and make this happen. I am going to continue this gofundme for the rest of the month, even though his surgery is closely approaching. Just to give people a little more time to get the word out.
Thanks,
