Baby Emma's medical fund
Donation protected
We are the Welsh family. My name is Ryan, my wife is Bethany, and we have a wonderful little 2 year old girl named Hayden. We decided pretty quickly that we wanted to give Hayden a baby brother or sister, and we could not have been more thrilled the day we found out our little family of three was becoming a family of four. God has always blessed us with so much, we were overwhelmed with happiness. When we were alerted that our new baby had some serious health concerns, our tears of happiness became tears of fear and sadness. We were informed our little angel has a birth defect and will require a lot of help when she is born.
In mid-July We found out Emma has a condition called Gastroschesis where a baby does not have all their organs in their body. In baby Emma’s case her stomach did not close in time, and therefore her bowel is outside of her body. When we learned this we were devastated, instead of a joyful day (which just happened to be Beth’s birthday) we were filled with fear, and a million possibilities of outcomes that we would not know until we underwent further testing. After meeting with a specialist we learned Emma will require surgery as a newborn, as well as an extensive stay of a month, to a few months in the ICU until she heals from surgery and her bowel can learn to work with the other organs. During this time, she will spend a great deal hooked to a ventilator. All of this also meant that she had higher odds of having a chromosomal defect, which they thankfully eventually ruled out. So while we are in a much better mindset about her condition, the road ahead will be pretty rough, as well as costly.
While we do have insurance, there is a very high chance we will be paying a pretty large sum. Our sweet little Emma is due on December 30th and babies with this birth defect tend to be induced a couple weeks early. So we are expected to reach both Beth & Emma’s deductibles in 2016, then with Emma’s surgery and extended ICU stay, we will be also hitting her new deductible in 2017. We will be staying in Spokane (about an hour and 45 minutes away from home) through this whole process. We will need to either stay at the hospital or rent a house. Of course we will want to be as close to baby Emma as much as possible, so we will be taking time off of work as a result.
As a new married couple and starting our family, these bills will be overwhelming. While we tried to put ourselves in a good financial situation to have a baby, so much of this was completely unforeseeable. Our family is asking from the bottom of our hearts for help getting through this, every cent raised will go toward paying these hospital bills and making sure we still have our home to bring our little angel to.

I started dating the girl of my dreams in September of 2014, and we got married on August 22nd 2015, when we met she had a perfect baby girl (Hayden) who was only 2 months old, I instantly fell in love with both of them and I knew my life would forever be changed. I couldn't wait to marry Bethany and be a daddy to little Hayden, I couldn't be any more overwhelmed by the happiness my girls bring me. We love our little family and are so grateful for the family and friends we have!
I work full time as a real estate agent in our beautiful little town, Sandpoint, ID. my wife also works at the same office, she is the assistant manager, so we get to see each other every day at work! Isn't that cool? We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful job situation!
As a man who works very hard to provide for my family it is extremely hard to swallow my pride and ask for help, but I will do anything for my family and we will be so grateful for any kindness and willingness to help us during such a crazy phase of our lives.
Thank you so much for reading our story, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
HERE IS A FUN PREGNANCY ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO WE MADE FOR OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY! We wanted to have some fun with it, our friends and family really enjoyed it so I wanted to share this with everyone!
