Hopes of Adopting Baby Platt

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Thomas and this is my wife Amanda. We have been married for 16 years, and God has granted us the path of adoption. We both love Christ and live a life of Faith, active in our church.

I met Amanda in Missouri. We were high school sweethearts that had the crazy idea of marrying during her last year of school, moving across the US, and beginning a journey together at 17 and 21 years old. No regrets! It's been a fun 16 plus years of marriage, but there's one thing has been missing all this time; Baby Platt.

As our love has grown stronger over the years, so has the longing to begin a family. We do have pets that serve as children. They give good lovin' and we spoil them to no end. But, we often talk about what it would be like to have a child at Christmas to share the story of the birth of our Savior with, see the twinkling in a child's eye as they see a Christmas tree lit up, sharing the excitement of all the first experiences, bedtime stories, bath time, birthday parties, and just the plain every day stuff that ends with a kiss goodnight and a bedtime prayer.

We have always wanted children, but Amanda was diagnosed early on in our marriage with endometriosis. After five surgeries our hopes for a child of our own were gone. Have I mentioned how awesome our God is? Amazing enough, though that desire to one day receiving news that we would become parents, and the longing to one day be at the hospital by Amanda's side and a baby boy or girl placed in our arms would never be fulfilled, our Faith has never toppled. We are certain that God has us on the right path.

A month before Amanda's complete hysterectomy was scheduled, we were contacted by a young lady of a mutual friend that had heard of us and made up her mind to place the baby she was carrying for adoption. We couldn't believe the timing. The hurt and sadness we were feeling about having to accept the fact that we were not ever going to have a child of our own all the sudden didn't seem as bad. We had several meetings with the young lady and decided to proceed with the adoption. She was insistant that we be involved in the whole pregnancy, and we had the precious opportunity to hear the babie's heartbeat and see him on the monitor. After paying lawyer fees, putting together a nursery, and picking out a name, she later contacted us and told us she had decided to keep the baby. Though our hearts broke, we couldn't hold that decision against the young mother. After all, either way she was making a very brave decision. In a way, we were proud of her.

A year later, we've decided it's time to move forward. It's time to bring Baby Platt home! It's time for nursery rhyme's, bath time, bedtime stories, bicycle rides and all the other sweet memories to be made.  We have started the domestic infant adoption process with Bethany Christian Services in South Dakota. The cost for adoption is very high, and that is why we are looking for some help; and of course all the prayers that can be offered. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for either/or monetary donations or just prayers. We know everyone has their struggles and it is not with a light heart that we accept your help. May God bless you and yours as much as he has ours.
