Baby Goss' Medical Expenses

Donation protected

As some of you may have read from Hannah's facebook, baby Goss has a condition called congenital diaphragmatic hernia, or CDH. There is a hole in the right side of the baby's diaphram and the liver is 75% up into the chest wall. This is something that happens between 8-10 weeks gestation, and there is no known cause as to why this happens. A major concern is the growth of the baby girl's lungs - they don't have the proper space they need to grow. Once baby is born, she will undergo surgery within a few days of birth to fix the hernia and put the liver back where it belongs. She will have a long road to recovery as her lungs will need extra time to grow and develop.  Baby will remain in the NICU for 2-4 months after the surgery, until she is stable enough to breathe on her own.

The national survival rate of babies with  CDH is 50-60%. Hannah and Casey have found a doctor in Florida that specializes in repairing babies with CDH. His name is Dr. David Kays and he is located at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Dr. Kay's survival rate in 2016 was 100%. Casey and Hannah want to give their baby girl the best chance possible at surviving and having a normal life.  So, when Hannah is 32 weeks, her and Stella will relocate to Florida to begin seeing Dr. Kay's and his team. Casey will stay in Wenatchee and continue to work as much as possible. He is planning to join them in June for the birth of baby.

I can only imagine how scary and stressful this is for the Goss family.  I set up this account for them in hopes to ease some of the financial stress of medical bills and relocating that they will be burdened with.
