Supporting the Bach family in a time of need
Donation protected
Dr. Harold Bach IV has dedicated his life to the service of others. From working as a paramedic in college to serving his community as a beloved trauma surgeon at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, he has spent his entire adult life caring for others. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Bach family in October, and now Harold is the one who needs our support.
In October 2022, Harold started experiencing nerve pain in his hands and feet. In the next two days, that pain grew exponentially and began to affect his ability to walk, sleep, and even eat. Harold’s situation worsened, and he became paralyzed from the neck down and has since been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Guillain-Barré is a disease that triggers the body’s immune system to start attacking its own nervous system, causing paralysis and pain across the entire body. This diagnosis came as a shock to all those who know and love Harold. While we know Harold is a fighter and that he will prevail in this fight against this rare and cruel disease, the healing process is a long and arduous one.
Many people have asked how they can help. With many months of hospital and rehabilitation care ahead, any financial support you can provide Harold, his wife Rochelle, and their three young children will be forever appreciated. This money will go a long way to not only defray the costs of hospitalization and rehabilitation, but this support will also assist the family in caring for Harold on his long trip back to recovery, a trip we know he will complete. Those who know and love Harold understand that once he completes that trip, he will be back doing what he loves — caring for others. That is just who he is. We are grateful for any assistance you can give to help Harold and his family on his long road back to recovery.
