Hello!
I'm Stephanie and thank you for looking at my gofundme. It's an odd feeling admitting that you need help but I've learned a lot about it in the last two years. Here's the run down on why I need your help:
In late April 2012, I was taking a bus and fell. At the time it happened I didn't think much about it. After supper that night I couldn't walk or sit, barely could even handle laying down, I was in horrible pain.
We went to the ER, where due to me being a little fat they determined it was just that I had put my back out without doing any testing. Being in the pain I was, I just wanted to go home and didn't question things. Problem was, months went by and my back didn't get any better.
Meanwhile, I was having to battle my employer over my inability to work. They even fired me and then hired me back when I said I had consulted a lawyer, however they just continued to harrass me. Asking for my medical details and demanding a firm date of return. Needless to say I was very soon unemployed.
Little by little my back would improve but then something would "catch" in my back and I was back to square one, having to be carried by my now husband to the bathroom. My husband who stuck it through with me had to witness the times I cried in pain or worse, clammed up in depression.
I am, and forever will be, grateful to my husband Francois. Without him I have no idea where I would be. However, when all this happened my husband had just finished transitioning to a new career path (I fell the day of his very last exam). So he was starting out fresh and at the bottom of the culinary world. Anyone in this field can tell you that while there are superstars with large incomes that's not the reality for most.
To save money we moved cities and like we planned are finally being able to tread water but like the last city I am having a tough time finding a part-time employment. In the last 3 months I have started attending yoga classes at studio 330 (they run on donations and the suggested donation per class is $10) in Kingston and my improvements have been mindblowing. I am able to have entire weeks without pain and it brings me to tears of happiness which is a nice change.
Ultimately my goal will be to find a part-time job here in Kingston while I go back to school. It has been hard finding work here but I hear that is normal for a lot of people at the moment. While I have years of experience in finance I am just looking for a small part-time job, I even applied to work as a cashier at my local loblaws only to never hear back.
What I need is some help on my road to full recovery. The donations would be going towards things like paying for my yoga classes which due to funds I only go twice a week but I feel my recovery would be greatly helped if I could increase the amount of times I could go (I'd like to go everyday!). Also, it would be helping me support myself at home by allowing me to purchase yoga blocks, a better mat and a proper bolster. The donations would contribute to bus fare to get to class and if I need to replace some yoga gear.
And in case anyone is wondering: YES I WANT A JOB! I live close to downtown Kingston and if someone is looking for part-time help please let me know. I would be so appreciative of an opportunity!
