Back the Blue Nevada County's 4th of July Parade Fundraiser

Happy Almost 4th of July, All!

One of our favorite annual events is fast approaching... the 4th of July Parade! Less than 2 weeks to go and we are still in pretty serious need of donations to make this all come together.

This year's Parade will be in downtown Nevada City at 11am and we are thrilled to partake in it! We're raising funds to help us pay for the following costs associated with our Back the Blue Nevada County parade float:

• Parade Float Entry Fee (already submitted & paid)

• Decorations

• Gas for generator to power sound equipment on the float

• Rental of haybales for seating on the float

• Paint & lumber to fix up float trailer

• American and Blue Line flags for the truck pulling our float and for people to hold who want to march with us

• 6 Sturdy Flagpoles

• Heavy duty car-safe magnets to hold our BTBNC banners on Steve's truck

• Mini flags, stickers and business cards to give out

• Cold waters to have for our parade participants

• Umbrella stand/base for 9 ft patio umbrella

Anyone who wants to join us in the parade as a flag-waver, a dancer, security, or a walker/giver of mini flags, stickers and business cards is welcome -- kids included! The more, the merrier!

I also need 2 other volunteers: 1 to shuttle people in our group and 1 to stay with our vehicles in the parking lot. This would entail shuttling people from the Rood Center Government Building parking lot (950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959 -- where we often end our rides) to the parade drop-off spot (about 1 mile from the Rood Center parking lot, depending on where we are placed in the lineup). Ideally, we'd like to have one volunteer providing the shuttle and one volunteer to stay with our cars in the parking lot, but that's only if we get enough people to help out.

We will have limited seating available on the float this year, as Byron & Sarge's band will be playing live music on it! We can't wait for you all to hear them perform! Thankfully, this parade is significantly shorter than the one in Grass Valley, making it much more doable for people to walk alongside us.

Huge thanks to Shaun Medeiros (Sarge) and his brother for allowing us the use of their trailer as our float and to Steve Elmore for serving as our mighty parade captain and using his truck to tow us! This will be Back the Blue Nevada County's 6th parade!
