At Birmingham Speedway we have been handed a potentially crippling blow with just over a month until our 2021 season starts.
Our Perry Barr Stadium has been the victim of three break-ins in as many weeks. Essential equipment has been set alight and burnt out, including several vehicles and the main water truck. Storage containers were broken into with most of our tools stolen and the security gates were battered down. Vandals caused further mindless damage in the early hours of Monday morning setting fires and breaking windows. We estimate the damage to be in the region of 20k.
To say everyone at the club is devastated is something of an understatement. With just six weeks until we launch our season it leaves us with an almost impossible mountain to climb to be ready to race.
As most of you will know, we’re just not like your other sports such as football who are blessed with all these hundreds and thousands and multi millions of pounds, Speedway works from hand to mouth.
The reality is, we just need as much financial backing and support from as many people as possible, no matter how small the amount, it will all add up in the end and it will ultimately help keep to keep our club alive. We are very grateful to former Brummies Promoter Tony Mole who has pledged to support the fund.
PLEASE SHARE our gofundme link anywhere you can to help us spread the word on our situation.
We thank you in advance for your support, generosity and help, and anything you can give will be so gratefully received by us all at the Brummies.
