The club requires to inform supporters, and football fans alike, that the previously intimated financial deficit is now £55,000. The generosity of donors to date has contributed £135,000, which includes a recent £15,000 donation by supporters, to reduce the gap but a significant deficit remains.

A credible late intervention to bridge that gap has fallen through and it is now necessary to move to general crowdfunding.

The reason for this situation has been well documented, but the fact is this club, important to so many, is now in serious danger.

A request for support through crowdfunding is now being launched and will run until the deficit is closed. Efforts will continue in the background to obtain material donations to reduce the burden on the majority, but we cannot defer any longer.

Owners can be assured that the board are united as never before. We have embraced new members and is working as one to save our club.

All board members have put themselves up for election at the forthcoming AGM reflecting their commitment to supporters and their determination to resolve this problem. Directors co-opted during this debacle are also standing for election and are sticking with the club they care about. Together all are delivering actions to address this problem.

The enormous scale of the challenge was exposed at a board meeting on 23rd August when the deficit was estimated at close to £200,000. Since then, every opportunity to close this has been followed and it is now clear that, despite our determination to avoid a wider appeal, we cannot do it alone.

There is never a good time to ask for money, but this is surely the worst. Please give what you can for an historic institution that has been critically damaged.

The Clyde Football Club, founded in 1877 has weathered many storms, this one is perhaps its toughest test.
